US Kammer is an unique course where the focus is on learning and gaining experience of playing in a chamber music ensemble under the instruction of leading international musicians who alternate between the roles of soloist and orchestra leader. The course places high demands on the participants’ mental and physical approach through proactive playing, thus building a holistic and unified sound. The goal is to refine and enhance the students’ ensemble playing skills and mindset.

It is desirable that participants on the chamber orchestra course will make up the core of the symphony orchestra on the summer course, assuming a higher degree of responsibility and functioning as section leaders. With the chamber orchestra as a well-established foundation, the symphony orchestra will be strengthened both artistically and socially.

In the chamber orchestra we strive to create a professional setting with a rehearsal schedule equivalent to that of professional orchestras/ensembles. It is expected that the participants study the repertoire in advance and meet well prepared for the first rehearsal. The orchestra will consist of 30–50 musicians, and the instrumentation will depend on the repertoire.
